An AP might refuse to connect a STA if it has a low RSSI. In such case,
the AP informs the STA with the desired RSSI delta and a retry timeout.
Any subsequent association attempt with that AP (BSS) should be avoided,
unless the RSSI level improved by the desired delta or the timeout has
expired.
Defined in Wi-Fi Alliance Optimized Connectivity Experience technical
specification v1.0, section 3.14 (RSSI-based association rejection
information).

The purpose of Multi-AP specification is to enable inter-operability
across Wi-Fi access points (APs) from different vendors.
This patch introduces one new configuration parameter 'multi_ap' to
enable Multi-AP functionality and to configure the BSS as a backhaul
and/or fronthaul BSS.
Advertise vendor specific Multi-AP capabilities in (Re)Association
Response frame, if Multi-AP functionality is enabled through the
configuration parameter.
A backhaul AP must support receiving both 3addr and 4addr frames from a
backhaul STA, so create a VLAN for it just like is done for WDS, i.e.,
by calling hostapd_set_wds_sta(). Since Multi-AP requires WPA2 (never
WEP), we can safely call hostapd_set_wds_encryption() as well and we can
reuse the entire WDS condition.
To parse the Multi-AP Extension subelement, we use get_ie(): even though
that function is meant for parsing IEs, it works for subelements.

This adds two utility functions to convert both operating classes and
and the chan_width enum to an integer representing the channel
bandwidth. This can then be used to compare bandwidth parameters in an
uniform manner.

This extends the SAE implementation in both infrastructure and mesh BSS
cases to allow an optional Password Identifier to be used. This uses the
mechanism added in P802.11REVmd/D1.0. The Password Identifier is
configured in a wpa_supplicant network profile as a new string parameter
sae_password_id. In hostapd configuration, the existing sae_password
parameter has been extended to allow the password identifier (and also a
peer MAC address) to be set. In addition, multiple sae_password entries
can now be provided to hostapd to allow multiple per-peer and
per-identifier passwords to be set.

Mark a channel as required DFS based on regulatory information received
from the driver/kernel rather than deciding based on hardcoded
boundaries on the frequency. Previously few channels were being marked
as requiring DFS even though they were non-DFS in a particular country.
If the driver does not provide channel list information, fall back to
the previously used frequency-based determination.

This extends hostapd processing of (Re)Association Request frames to
store a local copy of the Consortium OI within the Roaming Consortium
Selection element, if present, and then add that in HS 2.0 Roaming
Consortium attribute into RADIUS Access-Request messages.

This allows CONFIG_TESTING_OPTIONS=y builds of wpa_supplicant to
override the OWE DH Parameters element in (Re)Association Request frames
with arbitrary data specified with the "VENDOR_ELEM_ADD 13 <IE>"
command. This is only for testing purposes.

This needs to allow all 20 MHz channel numbers to be converted even
though the Annex E table lists only channel _center_ frequencies 50 and
114. Neighbor Report (see IEEE Std 802.11-2016, 9.4.2.37 Neighbor Report
element) uses Channel Number field with "last known primary channel of
the AP" which refers to the 20 MHz channel and not the channel center
frequency.

This makes hostapd track Supported Operating Classes information from
the associated STAs. The stored information is available through the STA
control interface command (supp_op_classes row) as a hexdump of the
Supported Operating Classes element starting from the Length field. This
information can be used as input to BSS transition management and
channel switching decisions.

Reorder terms in a way that no invalid pointers are generated with
pos+len operations. end-pos is always defined (with a valid pos pointer)
while pos+len could end up pointing beyond the end pointer which would
be undefined behavior.

The cwmin/cwmax parameters were limited more than is needed. Allow the
full range (0..15 for wmm_ac_??_{cwmin,cwmax} and 1..32767 for
tx_queue_data?_{cwmin,cwmax}) to be used.

CA country code was included mistakenly (copy-paste..) in cn_op_class_cc
while it was supposed to be included only in us_op_class_cc. In
practice, this did not result in incorrect operation due to the
us_op_class_cc list being checked first. Anyway, better fix
cn_op_class_cc to avoid confusion here.

Add operating class 125 (channels 149..169) to the list of P2P supported
channels. This allows the 5 GHz channels 161 and 169 to be used for P2P
GO when those channels are allowed for AP mode in the current regulatory
domain.

The SSID element is defined to have a valid length range of 0-32. While
this length was supposed to validated by the users of the element
parser, there are not really any valid cases where the maximum length of
32 octet SSID would be exceeded and as such, the parser itself can
enforce the limit as an additional protection.

Add handling logic for DFS offloaded case, and add a helper function
that takes the frequency (MHz) as a param and returns 1 if given channel
requires DFS, or 0 otherwise.

This allows vendor specific information element to be used to advertise
support for VHT on 2.4 GHz band. In practice, this is used to enable use
of 256 QAM rates (VHT-MCS 8 and 9) on 2.4 GHz band.
This functionality is disabled by default, but can be enabled with
vendor_vht=1 parameter in hostapd.conf if the driver advertises support
for VHT on either 2.4 or 5 GHz bands.

ieee80211_chan_to_freq() is a generic function that replaces and extends
the previous P2P-specific p2p_channel_to_freq(). The new function
supports both the global operating class table as well as the additional
US, EU, JP, and CN operating class tables.

Indicate support for QoS Mapping and configure driver to update the QoS
Map if QoS Map Set elements is received from the AP either in
(Re)Association Response or QoS Map Configure frame.
This commit adds support for receiving the frames with nl80211 drivers,
but the actual QoS Map configuration command is still missing.

If AP mode SME/MLME within wpa_supplicant is used for processing Probe
Request frames in GO mode, drop Probe Request frames that include only
802.11b rates per P2P spec section 2.4.1.

This commit adds control interface commands and internal storage of
Wi-Fi Display related configuration. In addition, WFD IE is now added
to various P2P frames, Probe Request/Response, and (Re)Association
Request/Response frames. WFD subelements from peers are stored in the
P2P peer table.
Following control interface commands are now available:

If WNM is enabled for the build (CONFIG_WNM=y), add BSS max idle period
information to the (Re)Association Response frame from the AP and parse
this information on the station. For SME-in-wpa_supplicant case, add a
timer to handle periodic transmission of the keep-alive frame. The
actual request for the driver to transmit a frame is not yet
implemented.

Some frequent debug prints are of limited use and make debug output
difficult to read. Make them use a new debug level so that -dd
provides more readable output (-ddd can now be used to enable
the excessive debug prints).
This adds first part of FT resource request as part of Reassocition
Request frame (i.e., FT Protocol, not FT Resource Request Protocol).
wpa_supplicant can generate a test resource request when driver_test.c
is used with internal MLME code and hostapd can verify the FTIE MIC
properly with the included RIC Request.
The actual RIC Request IEs are not processed yet and hostapd does not
yet reply with RIC Response (nor would wpa_supplicant be able to
validate the FTIE MIC for a frame with RIC Response).
This updates the terminogy to match with the final WMM specification. In
addition, some of the WMM TSPEC structure fields were in incorrect order
and used without byte order swapping. Those are also taken care of this
cleanup patch.
The separate Association Comeback Time IE was removed from IEEE 802.11w
and the Timeout Interval IE (from IEEE 802.11r) is used instead. The
editing on this is still somewhat incomplete in IEEE 802.11w/D7.0, but
still, the use of Timeout Interval IE is the expected mechanism.
This IE is not (at least yet) actually used for anything, but parsing it
cleans up verbose debug log a bit since thie previously unknown, but
commonly used, vendor IE was being reported as unknown.
This adds WPS support for both hostapd and wpa_supplicant. Both programs
can be configured to act as WPS Enrollee and Registrar. Both PBC and PIN
methods are supported.
Currently, hostapd has more complete configuration option for WPS
parameters and wpa_supplicant configuration style will likely change in
the future. External Registrars are not yet supported in hostapd or
wpa_supplicant. While wpa_supplicant has initial support for acting as
an Registrar to configure an AP, this is still using number of hardcoded
parameters which will need to be made configurable for proper operation.
