This code can be shared by both hostapd and wpa_supplicant and this
is an initial step in getting the generic code moved to be under the
src directories. Couple of generic files still remain under the
hostapd directory due to direct dependencies to files there. Once the
dependencies have been removed, they will also be moved to the src/ap
directory to allow wpa_supplicant to be built without requiring anything
from the hostapd directory.
set_ap_wps_ie() is not used to set WPS IE for both Beacon and Probe
Response frames with a single call. In addition, struct wpabuf is used
instead of separate u8* and length fields. This avoids duplicated
allocation of the IEs and simplifies code in general.
Instead of getting this via hostapd.h, include it as the first
non-system header file in all source code files in the same way as
used in all other files.
Clean up driver interface by merging hostapd and wpa_supplicant
specific set_beacon driver_ops into a single one. In addition,
merge set_beacon_int into to the same operation.
Instead of calling specific Probe Request handler functions, use a
generic mechanism that allows multiple callback functions to be
registered for getting notification on receive Probe Request frames.
This was not documented properly and was not really used nor would it be
suitable to be used in generic way as it was implemented. It is better
to just remove the parameter since there does not seem to be any
reasonable use for it.
No need for a separate driver_ops handler for setting DTIM period since
this is always set at the same time with the Beacon data. Beacon
interval is still set separately since it is consider per-radio
parameter (Beacon data and DTIM period are per-BSS parameters).
This is needed to make mac80211 work with multi-BSS configuration. The
previous design ended up setting DTIM period for secondary BSSes before
setting the Beacon and driver_nl80211.c was not really prepared for
that. Eventually, the Beacon configuration routines should be combined
into a single driver operation, but for now, just moving this call is
the simplest workaround.
This updates the terminogy to match with the final WMM specification. In
addition, some of the WMM TSPEC structure fields were in incorrect order
and used without byte order swapping. Those are also taken care of this
cleanup patch.
driver.h contains the definitions needed in driver wrapper
implementations (driver_*.c) and driver_i.h contains the definitions
that are used in core hostapd code to interact with the driver wrappers.
It is better to pass both HT Capabilities and HT Operation IEs in the
same function call since it may be easier for the driver wrappers to
handle the changes without having to wait for the other IE in the
wrapper code.
This adds WPS support for both hostapd and wpa_supplicant. Both programs
can be configured to act as WPS Enrollee and Registrar. Both PBC and PIN
methods are supported.
Currently, hostapd has more complete configuration option for WPS
parameters and wpa_supplicant configuration style will likely change in
the future. External Registrars are not yet supported in hostapd or
wpa_supplicant. While wpa_supplicant has initial support for acting as
an Registrar to configure an AP, this is still using number of hardcoded
parameters which will need to be made configurable for proper operation.
This code was not finished and did not work with the current mac80211
design. In order to avoid confusing users, it is better to remove this
completely for now and look at new implementation to work with mac80211.
The configuration data should only store the static configuration data and
not dynamic data. In addition, storing HT configuration and state in IEs is
not the easiest way of doing this, so use more convenient data types for
storing configuration and dynamic state. The HT IEs are then generated
based on the static configuration and dynamic state whenever needed.
This commit brings in cleaned up version of IEEE 802.11n implementation
from Intel (1). The Intel tarball includes number of other changes, too,
and only the changes specific to IEEE 802.11n are brought in here. In
addition, this does not include all the changes (e.g., some of the
configuration parameters are still missing and driver wrapper changes for
mac80211 were not included).
